K.I.S.S #1 – Keep it Simple Sundays
We are all crafters here. Do you, like me, have an overflowing craft area full of toys that you absolutely *love* and want to play with every chance you get? And we want to use those toys to make things for our loved ones. But sometimes . . . Sometimes, you need a card, and you need it *NOW*. So, it’s useful to have some ideas for Simple cards that just *look* like they took forever. When you’re working with a simple card, you can make them feel a little more lux by using a colored card base and using shimmer white cardstock in place of plain white.

I’m working today with the Sun Prints Suite. I cut a Starry Sky card base, a shimmer white mat, and a feature piece of DSP. I used the wreath die from the Natural Prints does, cutting one in shimmer white and one in vellum. Now, having a mat AND a wreath in shimmer white seems like a lot of cardstock. But this card has a secret. You see, behind that DSP . . .

The wreath was actually cut from the center of that mat! That cuts the amount of shimmer white cardstock in half. I love a thrifty trick.
Now, it’s difficult at times to attach vellum without having visible adhesive. Nobody wants that. For this card, we will apply mini dimensionals across the back of the WHITE wreath, then sandwich the vellum wreath between the DSP and the white wreath, sticking down both wreaths at once with NO visible adhesive. You may need to cut some dimensionals in half to fit them to the wreath. Here’s where I placed mine.

Just expose the adhesive and flip it over to stick both wreaths onmake sure that the two don’t line up exactly, so you can see the vellum.

Now, all we need is a sentiment to finish the card front. I went with one from the Nature’s Prints Stamp set, stamped on a scrap of shimmer white. I also had a scrap of the DSP, leftover from cutting the card front, and used it to add a bit of interest to the sentiment.

And that’s it! The bare bones card ready to go as it is or ready for some embellishments. Maybe a bow in the Starry Sky or Orchid Oasis metallic ribbon, some in color resin flowers or matte dots. Or even some basic rhinestones. Dress it up how you like.
Update:
Bling and Bows!

That tip about using the cut piece for the mat is awesome! I don’t know why I never thought of that before. Beautiful card.
BTW: The color didn’t quite translate this time. I thought the white was crumb cake. Which would still be nice.
That would be a good combo! I’m working on improving my camera set up too, for more true colors.
