Triple Time with Textured Florals

Triple Time is one of those techniques that look really complicated, but are pretty simple to put together. To begin, we temporarily attach 3 pieces of white cardstock. The sizes are 5-1/4″x4″; 2-1/2″x3-1/4″; and 4″x2-1/4″.

The green lines show the location of the 2-1/2″ x 3-1/4″ piece. I arranged it to have an even border along the 3 edges, around 3/8″ on each side. Then the longer piece is placed, centered top to bottom and with a 3/8″ gap on the side to match the other side. I used a repositionable tombow adhesive to stick the parts down. After stamping, we will take these pieces apart.

To start out, pull out all three flower stamps from the Textured Florals stamp set. With the Berry Burst ink, stamp two of the large flowers, one medium flower, and in Berry Burst stamped off once, two of the small flowers. Don’t worry if there’s a small gap around the edges of the layers where the ink didn’t mark. We will be adding a mat under the pieces that will cover the gap.
With Blackberry Bliss ink, stamp centers into each of the flowers.
for the next step, we will need to mask off the large flower. To create a mask, I start with either a “sticky all over” post-it note, or some of the new stampin’ up masking paper. Stamp the large flower, then trim around the edge.

Arrange the mask to cover the large flower on the right and grab the compound flower stamps and the Blackberry Bliss ink. Blackberry Bliss is my very favorite color, and I like how it pairs with the Berry Burst here. Stamp two of the stems of compound flowers, following up with the stems in Pretty Peacock before removing the mask. Be careful pulling it up so you don’t damage the cardstock below.

Next, move the mask to the left side and add a portion of compound flowers above that flower.

Below the flowers add some of the leaves, both large and small in Pretty Peacock.

After adding the sentiment in Pretty Peacock ink, we are ready to take the pieces apart and mat each piece separately. The largest card is attached directly to the Pretty Peacock card base.

Make sure your image lines up with the image around, picking at least two location that match before permanently attaching the matted piece. I recommend using Tombow green glue, since it gives you a little bit of wiggle room before it settles in place.

Attach the second piece in the same way. Isn’t that gorgeous 😍?

Next, stamp a piece of white cardstock for the inside and the envelope to match, and add a few embellishments, and as always, a Wink of Stella for shine.

This card was so fun to make! I have to say that you can’t judge your own work until you put it all together. I had grave doubts about how dark the those background leaves were! It all came together, and I was very proud of my card! Thank, Laura!
I would not have thought to use Pretty Peacock for the leaves but it totally works. Now that fall is nearly here, I was thinking Crushed Curry or Cajun Craze would make pretty flowers.
Thanks for showing me this technique step by step. Can’t wait to try it.
