Holiday Cards

The Spooky Season is upon us.

So I grabbed the stamps from October’s Paper Pumpkin kit to create a card for my spooky loving friends.

I started with the Cajun Craze sheets from the Metallic and Shimmer Specialty Paper, cut to size for the card front. I knew the moment I saw the mini catalog that I HAD to have this shimmer paper. I cut that out with the negative space die from the Aspen Tree Dies.

To pop the trees out from the background, I added dimensionals, a LOT of mini-dimensionals, to the back of the trees and some larger dimensionals in the corners.

I took a standard Cajun Craze card base, and a Basic Black layer cut 1/8″ larger than the shimmer paper layer. To add some depth, I took a 1.25″ circle cut out as a mask and sponged a moon with Whisper White craft ink. And then layered on the shimmer paper layer and attached to the card base.

I stamped the Trick or Treat stamp in Momento Black onto a label from the Potted Succulents dies, layered with a bit of striped paper, and attached to the card with sticky strip. I like to use sticky strip when one of the surfaces is slick like the shimmer paper, or highly textured like a glimmer paper.

I stamped a little ghostie in Memento Black on Basic White cardstock and fussy cut it out. Attach the ghostie with a dimensional where it doesn’t touch a tree, and sticky strip where it does. A few Black pre-adhesive stars for accent and the card front is finished.

Cajun Craze is a pretty dark color, so I added a Basic White layer inside to make any writing clearer. I stamped with the spider and web from the Paper Pumpkin stamp set as well as the Happy Halloween stamp. I added the trimmed edge of the shimmer paper and attached it at the bottom for a little bit of bling inside. And there’s your shimmery Halloween card in fantastic fall colors.
